Lots of Little Pieces

(aka My Favorite Color is Glitter)

Solo Exhibition at Miami-Dade College Kendall Campus Gallery

January 9 - February 6, 2025

Regina Jestrow: Lots of Little Pieces (aka My Favorite Color is Glitter) showcases large-scale art quilts that combine a personal narrative with a tribute to my mother and sister, expressing our love for shiny things. The tacky-luxe aesthetic, prominent in our Italian-American family home in Queens, New York, remains a recognizable part of my artistic practice in Miami.

My geometric art quilts include hand-dyed, painted fabrics and repurposed textiles from friends, family, and local thrift shops, including deconstructed party dresses. These materials convey personal narratives and reference pop culture trends. I incorporate symbolic traditional quilt patterns to tell stories while creating new, dynamic forms.

The exhibition will be on view until February 6th, 2025, and includes several programs leading up to its closing. An artist talk will take place on Saturday, January 18th, at 1 pm, followed by a fabric collage workshop for MDC Kendall art students during the week of January 20th.
